Ethen Frank Wins CCM Fastest Skater for Second Straight Year

February 4, 2024

Hershey Bears forward Ethen Frank once again won the CCM Fastest Skater event, claiming the victory at the 2024 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday night at Tech CU Arena in San Jose, California. This is the second straight year Frank has won the event.

Frank, 25, completed his lap in the event in 13.032 seconds, falling just short of surpassing his previous AHL record of 12.915 seconds established at the 2023 AHL All-Star Skills Competition in Laval, Quebec. Frank is the only player in league history to break the 13-second barrier in event history.

Frank's time of 13.032 seconds this year was also faster than any player who participated in the Fastest Skater competition at the 2024 NHL All-Star Skills Competition.

The second-year pro ranks fourth in the AHL in goals this season with 21, and is third on Hershey in scoring with 35 points (21g, 14a) in 46 games this season. He's playing in the AHL All-Star Classic for the second straight year after striking for 30 goals in his rookie campaign in 2022-23, earning AHL All-Rookie Team honors, and helping Hershey to the 2023 Calder Cup title.

The Bears are represented at the 2024 AHL All-Star Classic by Frank and teammate Clay Stevenson, along with defenseman Dylan McIlrath who was selected as a playing captain for the event. Additionally, Hershey head coach Todd Nelson is overseeing the Atlantic Division for the second straight year. Hershey's head athletic trainer Shawn Fliszar and assistant equipment manager Dillon Filepas were also selected to work the event in San Jose.

The league's mid-season showcase wraps up Monday night at 9 p.m. ET with the 2024 AHL All-Star Challenge, a round-robin tournament among the league's four divisions played at 3-on-3. The All-Star Challenge will air live across the United States on NHL Network and for free via AHLTV.
