The Hershey Bears are saddened to learn of the passing of former right wing Bruce Cline. He was 93 years old.
The 5'7", 137-pound Cline played five seasons for the Chocolate and White from 1963-68, skating in 299 games with the club and generating 229 points (97g, 132a) while serving as an alternate captain.
In his second campaign with Hershey in 1964-65, Cline helped the club reach the Calder Cup Finals, and in his fourth season in 1966-67, he turned in his finest offensive performance as a Bear, scoring 70 points (28g, 42a) in 70 games.
Cline was one of the AHL's greatest scorers of his era, logging 773 points (312g, 452a) in 823 games over 13 seasons from 1955-68 with the Providence Reds, Buffalo Bisons, Springfield Indians, and Hershey. He was a recipient of the Dudley (Red) Garrett Memorial Award as the league's outstanding rookie in the 1955-56 season, and was named to the AHL First All-Star Team for the 1960-61 campaign, and the AHL Second All-Star Team in 1962-63.
Cline's professional career also included a 30-game stint with the National Hockey League's New York Rangers during the 1956-57 season, recording five points (2g, 3a).
Cline won the Calder Cup four times in his career (Providence, 1956; Springfield, '60, '61, '62) and was inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame in 2016. He was inducted into the Hershey Bears Hockey Club Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2023.
